Since1982

Reverend Albert G. Davis, Jr. accepted Christ at an early age. He was called to preach in 1974 and was ordained as a minister in 1979. After his ordination, Rev. Davis served as Assistant Minister at Second Macedonia Baptist Church in Philadelphia from 1979 until 1982.

 

On June 20, 1982, Rev. Albert G. Davis, Jr. was installed as the pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Davis brings the ministerial experience of leadership, primarily in areas with children and youth. He works with committees to develop programs and ministries that address the social, emotional and spiritual needs of his congregation. Under his leadership, the Mount Calvary Baptist Church continues to grow spiritually.

 

Reverend Davis earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration Accounting from Cheyney University. He has also studied at the Shaw University Without Walls, School of Divinity and Philadelphia Bible College.

 

Reverend Davis is a vocal advocate for social and community needs. He is a Board Member for each of the following associations:

 

  • Palmer Theological Seminary Board of Governers

  • Eastern University Board of Trustees

  • Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees

  • Community Needs Committee, Bryn Mawr Hospital

  • Board of Directors Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention

  • Philadelphia Baptist Association

  • Foreign Mission Board, National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.

  • State Board of Accountancy of the Commenwealth of Pennsylvania

 

Reverend Davis also serves as Treasurer of the Suburban Baptist Association; Strawberry Square Association; Main Line Black Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (MLBIMA); and Budget Director of Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity. Reverend Davis currently holds the position as Director of Registration and Finance, for the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., and is the President of the Main Line Branch of the NAACP. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

 

Reverend Davis has received numerous awards and recognition for his many services. In 1999, he received the Charter Member Award from the MLBIMA for outstanding service and dedication. In 2001, Reverend Davis was honored by the Main Line Martin Luther King Jr. Association for "making the dream of Dr. King a reality on the Main Line." He has received the Christian Service Award from the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention, and also earned a Chapel of Four Chaplains Citation.

 

Mrs. DeVera E. Watson Davis is Reverend Davis' wife of thirty nine years. Together, they are blessed with two children, Genea and Albert III, a daughter in-law, two granddaughters, a grandson, and two step-grandsons.

 

Upon her arrival at Mount Calvary Mrs. Davis immediately went to work breathing new life into the Youth Ushers Ministry, as well as the church wide Christmas production. She also initiated the church Smorgasbord, which has now become a much anticipated annual event that cultivates community and fellowship among the congregation. A devoted member of the Church Chorus, Mrs. Davis is ever willing to serve in any capacity.

 

Always working as a team, Reverend and Mrs. Davis are continually doing God's work in service and in deed.
