Pay Attention!

This week Minister Evans ministered about paying attention. Her scripture reference was 1 TIMOTHY 4:12.

Synopsis: In a time when distraction is everywhere, and everything is just a click away how do we take a step back and focus on the principles of our faith? The answer is simple: "Pay attention" - sometimes this means listening with the intention of doing something, and other times it means simply giving attention to something. In order to stay focused on the things that are important to our spiritual growth, we must "pay attention":

  • Pay attention to your calling - If we don't do our spiritual work first, the other things we do probably won't amount to anything worth while.

  • Pay attention to your gifting - do not neglect your gift which was given to you. Your spiritual gifts were tailormade for you so don't wait for an invitation to use them.

  • Pay attention to your walking - look at how you are living, and make sure your life and your doctrine are aligned.

While exploring the questions of “How often do you listen and pay attention? and Is it as often as you want others to listen and pay attention to you?” , the minister also reflected on the changing state of family and community, urging the congregation to put their phones and ipads down, turn off the TV, and engage in conversation - fellowship with one another.
