Live a Life Worthy of Your Calling

The Layman's Day committee hosted a Prayer Breakfast this weekend, and Reverend Andrea Baylord-Lloyd, of Zion Baptist Church, blessed the service with a powerful message. Her scripture reference was: EPHESIANS 4:1-6 and CORINTHIANS 4:21.

Synopsis: What we believe effects how we live, so beware of false doctrine. We are living in a world where people are trying to "modernize" God's word by changing it. We have to know the difference between what God said and what these interpretations mean. The true word comes from the Spirit, and the Spirit cannot lie. What God said is in His word, so do not let the world's interpretations alter your view of it.

As believers we have a job to do in the world. In order to do it effectively we have to grow in Christ and remain united as one body in Him. There is a difference between growing in Christ, and simply maturing. To grow in Christ we have to humble ourselves and be paitient with one another, keeping the unity with the bond of peace.

God has filled you with His spirit, and He has nurtured you to use your gifts. Those gifts are your calling, and that calling helps maintain the unity of the church. Do not hide it - your calling is meant to be shared with the world. When people see you, they should see God's love and His purpose in you. Have power when you witness to be effective so that the needy can experience God's love.
